As part of Sony’s NBA partnership for the NBA Conference Finals, Ocean’s 8 received a co-brand, pre-game (NBA Countdown), and in-game position for the round. CreativeWorks utilized this three-part placement to play out a three-act caper in the spirit of the Ocean’s franchise.
Inspired by Sandra Bullock’s Debbie Ocean character assembling an all-star crew, we see ESPN’s own masterminds Cassidy Hubbarth, Molly Qerim, and Chauncey Billups scheming with their own unique team, to pull off a heist of Jalen Rose’s jewels.
Fans watched as the caper played out across the three spots on ESPN during the Conference Finals, and engaged with ESPN’s NBA talent on social channels, where the spots were also posted. By bringing the world of Ocean’s 8 to life through our NBA on-air talent, we built anticipation for the movie organically on the NBA postseason stage.
